We understand that in winter, when the temperature drops outside, it can be tempting to turn up the heat inside your home. but before you reach for the thermostat take a look at these five easy and cost effective tips to reduce heat loss within your home.
It’s nice to have a change now and then. Rearranging your furniture is a good way to make sure you’re getting the most warmth out of your room. Avoid placing your sofa or chairs in front of a large window; the radiant heat loss from your body to the glass will make you feel cold. Also, where possible, move furniture like chairs and sofas away from radiators, they will absorb the heat.
5. Foil it
This a really good old fasioned tip. Putting tinfoil behind your radiators can help to reflect heat back into the room, and make sure it doesn’t escape through the walls. You can purchase special radiator foil, but good quality kitchen foil will also do the trick.
6. Be patient
Avoid turning your thermostat to maximum in an effort to get your home warm quicker. This won’t happen and all you will achieve is making your home to hot. Set the thermostat to a comfortable setting, between 19 and 21 degrees is comfortable for most people.
